This week, Safety Mark spoke to the staff in response to a fatal incident across the province. A man working at the Caraquet, NB wharf was killed and three others injured when unloading ice into a fishing boat on May 7th, 2016. Fishermen describe that he was hit by ice and fell into the area where it would be stored on a boat.
Mark reminded the staff that we need to think smart and safe at all times. They are encouraged to take a little extra time to assess the risk of any job and prepare with the appropriate safety actions.
We want to impress upon everyone that safety is first priority and expect everyone to keep each other safe. There is no shame in speaking up if you see something that could be done in a more effective, safe manner.
