CELL PHONE SAFETY

By February 14, 2017 Safety Blog

Mark spoke with the staff, well the ones that were able to get her through the storm, yesterday.  The conversation surrounded cell phone safety and highlighted the dangers of using a cell phone on the job.

Distracted driving is not the only danger of a cell phone.  Mark cited an incident in BC where an engineer was fatally injured on the job site while using a cell phone when hit by a truck.

5 things to consider about cell phone safety:

  • Any distraction is a distraction.
  • in an instant of checking a message, you aren’t just endangering yourself, but co-workers.
  • A forklift is a vehicle.
  • Keep your cell phone in you locker to keep everybody safe.
  • Make sure that family know the proper channels to contact you in an emergency.
